It's all about Tuners

In this new section of my site, i will chronicling my on going adventure to learn about FM and FM Tuners.

I expect this journey to be both exciting and difficult as I struggle through this complex area of electronics.

I'm sure there will be some exciting times, especially when some small bit of understanding comes into focus.

The goal here is simple, learn everything I can about FM and FM Tuners and become proficient at understanding tuner alignment.

This is bound to get interesting.

Hi Chris, have you had the time to try any tuner alignments yet? I just made a trade for a nice clean 120 tuner. Not even any burn on the scope! I've ordered new caps for the PS and scope board to prevent anything going "poof" before I go any further with it. It seems like a pretty nice tuner for all the trash talk concerning this model.

Hi Lavane

I posted a short update about my tuner journey, I am moving along nicely but more slowly that I would like. I've played at a few alignments and the outcomes have become better and more reliable.

I haven't had any experience with the Model 120 Tuner, I'm sure it's probably better than most people expect. A very good antenna helps most tuners a lot.

Be careful working on the scope circuit, there's very high-voltage in there and it can hurt!

Good luck on your project

I worked for an electronics parts wholesale supplier many years ago. We supplied most of the north end of the central valley back in the late '70s. I've seen a couple techs knocked off there stool working on old tube TV's. I'll be sure to be careful.
